TERM 1

We hope you've all had a wonderful summer! We're excited to see you all again and look forward to welcoming you to our Myrtle site.

There are a few important bits of information to remember for this term to make sure everything runs smoothly and safely:

  • Children must come into school wearing PE kits on their PE days. All PE sessions will be outside so they may also need a coat.

Our PE days are Mondays and Wednesdays. Come into school wearing your PE kit. We will be outside, even on cold and drizzly days so make sure you have a coat or warm jogging bottoms. Long hair needs to be tied back and all jewellery removed.

Reading - Please read at home with an adult as much as you can and update your reading record so we can see how you're getting on at home.

Homework - The grid for each week of the term is included in your homework book and also can be downloaded below if lost (see below). There will also be a spelling list to learn each week (download below). The spelling test is every Friday.

Maths - Look below for ideas on how to support learning at home, including links to games.

Herons

Mr Smith is the class teacher in Heron class and he leads lower KS2–the classes downstairs.

DURING TERM 4: Herons have PE on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Please try to read at home with an adult as much as you can. You will need your reading books and record in school every day please. Reading books will be changed regularly.

You will receive the homework and spellings for each term at the beginning of the term and these will be stuck into your home learning journals. You can download them below if you need an extra copy! Spellings will be tested on a Thursday morning.   Please have a look at the maths section below for ideas on how to support them at home, plus for links to games.

Honeybees

Welcome to Year 3 Honeybees. Miss Munnings teaches in the fantastic Honeybee classroom (known as The Hive!).

Mrs Turvey will be teaching French on a Friday.

Our PE days are Mondays and Wednesdays. Remember that no jewellery should be worn and earrings should be removed or covered.

Please try to read at home with an adult every night or as often as possible. You will need your reading books and record in every day at school. We will aim to change reading books when completed, at least once a week.

Homework will be given out on a Friday and returned on a Wednesday morning please.  The grid for each week of the term is included in your homework book and also can be downloaded below if lost (see below). There will also be a spelling list to learn each week and our spellings will usually be tested on a Thursday.

Times tables will be a focus all through Year 3 and the more time you spend learning these at home, the better you will get.  This term we will be revising the 2x, 5x and 10x tables for immediate recall.

'Meet the Teacher' evening -  Wednesday 9th September 2020

It was great to see so many of your faces on Zoom for our Meet the Teacher evening. The key information that we covered is all included in this powerpoint below:

Reading Books

In addition to your weekly set homework please read at home as often as you can and aloud with an adult at least 2 or 3 times a week. Sign and date your record so we can see what you've been doing at home. You will have reading books from school but other things are great too.

If you need some news ideas, here are some recommended books for year 3.

Homework

A copy of the homework is also stuck in your child's homework book. From term 2, we will have a spread of topics each term across the curriculum. Please bring your completed homework in your books in on a Tuesday and we will send them home again on a Friday.  You can find a copy of this term's homework below:

 Term 1

This term for homework the focus is on completing the following key skills every week:

  • Weekly spellings (lists for the term will be stuck in homework books and added to the webpage on 18.9.20)
  • Regular reading of school book and recording in reading record.
  • Times tables, including using TT Rock stars website (log in details in homework book). Children should be confident counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s and be able to answer related multiplication questions, eg. ‘What is 6 x 3?’. The following websites may also help:
