Residential trips

Residential Trips

Our children are very fortunate to have the opportunity to attend two residential trips during their time at Southville.

Year 5 Residential

In year 5, the children are given the chance to go on a 3-day residential trip to Magdalen Farm in Chard, Somerset. Magdalen is a working organic farm providing the perfect environment to connect with nature, learn from sustainable living and enjoy the countryside. Every aspect is delivered with expertise by a team of qualified teaching and care staff who love what they do. Activities include feeding and caring for the animals, harvesting crops, orienteering, cooking and woodland walks.

Year 6 Residential

In Year 6, the children are given the chance to go on a 5-day residential trip to Abernant Lake in Wales. Children undertake a programme of outdoor activities, such as climbing, abseiling, fencing, archery, caving and an obstacle course. All activities are led by fully trained and qualified instructors with the support of school staff. The trip provides a whole host of benefits and opportunities for children, including trying out new things, team-building, stretching and challenging themselves in different ways and developing an increased sense of independence.
