Interhouse Netball Tournament

Key Stage 2 children showed off their netball skills by taking part in a competition in the Summer term. The matches were very exciting, with great teamwork and lots of end-to-end action. After impressive journeys to the final, Milford met Greville. It was an entertaining and high-scoring match which Milford edged to be crowned house champions.

Well done to all who took part and thank you to Miss Anderson and Ms Hayes for organising the event.

Year 5/6 Cricket

After three weeks and seven matches of wonderful teamwork, stunning batting and acrobatic fielding, the Southville eight finished with silver medals as runners up in this year's "Kwik Cricket" at Bedminster CC. Five consecutive and richly deserved victories led to a nail-biting semi-final against Bridge Farm. Unbelievably, the match ended in a draw! Thankfully, the team regrouped and produced an excellent performance in the "super over" tie-break to make it through. After in a great final against Hedley Park, the team took a well earned rest to pose with their medals. Thanks for your commitment, everyone. You were brilliant!

"Year 5/6 Quadkids" Athletics

We took a superb team of athletes to Bridge Learning Campus for an afternoon divided into four events: long jump, sprint, votex howler throw and dstance run. The children were positive, supportive of each other and made everyone at Southville proud by doing their best. We managed some of the best long jump distances in our group of schools and the entire team of six finished in the top ten in the final distance run. Well done everybody; you were fantastic.

Year 5/6 Netball Tournament

This year, Southville A and B have shown off their netball skills in competition with other schools. The commitment and teamwork of the children involved, plus coaching by Mrs Mathias and Mr Potter, led to great success. Southville A made it all the way to the Grand Final, where they enjoyed a 5-1 victory over Hotwells. Well done folks! A wonderful effort from everyone. Thank you for participating.

Year 5/6 Football League

During February 2016, we took part in the Year 5/6 Football League at South Bristol Sports Centre. The league was played out over a number of weeks and the dedication of children (and parents!) was fantastic. Southville A came 7th in their league and Southville B finished 8th in theirs. Both sides enjoyed some excellent results and scored some superb goals, but the team spirit and smiles were what we were all about. Thanks to Joe (Jake's Dad) for coaching and to all the children and parents who made this so much fun. Enter text...

Sports Leaders

Two children from each class will be having regular meetings with me to share the ideas that their classmates have about how to improve our PE lessons, how to be more active in school and how to improve our school sports opportunities.  This group of children are called Sports Leaders.

29th January 2015

Take a look at the photo of our Sports Leaders demonstrating some of the different sports that we play in our school!  They will also be busy this week asking the children in their classes what they have thought about the gymnastic coaches and lessons they have been having over the last year!

It was really exciting to meet with the school Sports Leaders today.  The children are going to ask their classmates which sports they would like to play in a series of house competitions over the rest of the year. I am looking forward to hearing about what they come up with!
